Privacy policy
What this site collects, what it does not, and how to ask for what we hold about you.
Scope
This policy covers this website. It does not cover the companies and tools written about here: open their own policies before handing them anything.
Who is responsible
This site is published by The Host Register. Privacy questions and requests go through the contact form.
What is collected
Nothing you did not send. There is no account, no login, no newsletter and no comment form on this site.
Email you write to us. If you send a message, the message and your address are kept for as long as it takes to answer and to keep a record of a correction.
Server logs. The hosting network records requests, including IP addresses, as part of delivering and protecting the site.
Where it comes from
Only from you, when you write, and from the technical request your browser makes when it loads a page. Nothing is bought, enriched or matched against other sources.
What it is used for
To answer your message, to correct the register when you show us it is wrong, and to keep the site available and defended against abuse. Not for advertising profiles, and not for sale.
Legal basis
Answering your message is the performance of what you asked for; keeping the site available and secure is a legitimate interest. Where consent is required for anything, it is asked for before, not after.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies today and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. If that changes, this policy and the cookie policy change with it, before the change is made and not after.
Who else sees it
Cloudflare delivers this site and its DNS, and processes requests as part of that.
The email provider behind the contact form receives what you send through it.
No other party receives anything, and nothing is sold or shared for advertising.
Commercial links
Some outbound links are commercial. Following one takes you to another company, which is then responsible for what it collects. The commercial arrangement is described in the disclaimer.
Where data goes
The site is delivered from a global network, so a request is served from a location near you rather than from one country. Email reaches a mailbox that may be held outside your country.
How long it is kept
Email is kept while it is useful to the correction it concerns, and deleted on request. Delivery logs are kept by the hosting network for its own retention period, which is short and not under our control.
Your rights
Under the GDPR in the EU and the UK, and under the CCPA in California, you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. There is no charge.
How to ask
- 1 Send the request through the contact form and say what you want: access, correction or deletion.
- 2 Give the email address the request should be matched to.
- 3 Expect an answer from a person within a month, and usually much sooner.
Automated decisions
None. Nothing on this site profiles a visitor or makes a decision about anyone automatically.
Security
The site is static, served over HTTPS, and has no database and no login for an attacker to reach. That is a design choice, not a claim of perfect security.
Children
This site is written for property owners and is not directed at children. Nothing here is knowingly collected from them.
If something goes wrong
If a breach affects data held about you, you will be told what happened, what was affected and what to do, without waiting to be asked.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date below changes with it. A change that affects what is collected is made after the policy says so, not before.
Complaints
If you are in the EU or the UK and are not satisfied with the answer, you may complain to your national data protection authority. Telling us first usually settles it faster.
